I’d actually pre-dated this post and was leading on a happier note than before this sad moment happened. Waiting in line to get into The Rich Mix Centre in Shoreditch I was routing for Ghana (I managed to get inside about 3 minutes before their first goal was scored). I’m not sure how I managed to watch the last 30 minutes of the match…but the ending was not what the hundreds of us there were expecting. Uruguay’s goal brought silence to the crowd as the only African nation to reach that stage was knocked out of the World Cup.
I watched the Ghana vs USA game at Marketplace and when the camera zoomed in on Kevin-Prince the lady next to me exclaimed “who is THAT?” <—PRICELESS, lol. As I’d already done my Google research, I was able to inform her that it was Kevin-Prince Boateng.
He’s 23 and plays for Portsmouth FC (he used to play for Tottenham before that…how the HELL did I not know this and my dad is a die-hard Spurs fan???)
He’s half Ghanian half German, and has a younger brother who plays for Germany (strange you might think…..there’s some family beef there in that they’re not speaking due to an incident involving KP and Germany’s Michael Ballack which resulted in him not being able to play in this World Cup).
He has 13 tattoos (including his wife and son’s names)
Um…he is FINE!
