Published on April 22nd, 2011

On Thursday, April 14th XHIBIT P and BOSS of Barnard College co-hosted “To Be Hip, Gifted & Black: The future of the black creative class,” a dynamic panel that touched on so many issues important to that community.

Part 1: “Identity vs Art

The panelists and audience discuss the ever-present dilemma that many artists of color face and that is, how they and others identify define their artwork through race and whether or not the identification process becomes problematic, whether that be monetarily, morally, or socially.
