[Exhibition] 30 Americans at The Cocoran Gallery of Art

Published on September 29th, 2011

This autumn, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design will present 30 Americans, a wide-ranging survey of works by many of the most important African American contemporary artists of the last three decades. By bringing seminal artistic figures together with younger and emerging artists, the exhibition explores artistic influence across generations and sheds light on issues of racial, sexual and historical identity. Often provocative and challenging, 30 Americans at the Corcoran explores ideas central to the American experience.

The exhibition includes work from artists such as Glen Ligon, Jean Michel Basquiat, iona rozeal brown, Noah Davis, and Kehinde Wiley.

The exhibition runs from October 1st to February 12th 2012.
